Who Ya Gonna Call?

Why hey there friend. You're looking good, real good, like that really fine writer friend of mine that used to hang out around here. You know, before back before July came in and stole them from me. Oh! Wait! That's you, isn't it? I knew it! Well, I'm glad to see you again. I hope you had a great vacation/summer school/July -- or whatever you've been up to. I hope you saw Ghostbusters while you were gone. It's pretty good.

So, while I've got you, let's talk updates!

There aren't many, so this will be pretty short.

▶ Thing 1: Clean-up! I've cleaned up a lot of old activity, some members that went inactive previously and some old threads with previously inactivated members. I also touched up some of the claims lists to make sure everything matched up. While we're on the topic -- I plan to do a little more clean-up really soon. I know we're pretty loosey-goosey around here, especially with old threads. But let's be honest with ourselves. If there's a thread not marked complete, and no one's posted in it since 2015, they probably never will. I'm going to start closing up shop on those.

▶ Continuing the theme of clean-up, I'm thinking about other improvements or changes that might make sense around here. If you've got ideas, I'm open to them as always, just drop me a PM or a message in the Suggestions post.

One I've been thinking about is getting rid of the "Correspondences" forum. Doesn't seem to me that we need a whole forum space for it when we can just move those kinds of posts to the Elsewhere forum, where it'd be at home with the other odd-places-out posts. What do you all think? Agree? Disagree? Let me know.

▶ A few months ago I had everyone vote in a poll about your interest in a table-top RP version of Dragon Age, maybe over Skype or Discord or something. Well the time has come. I'm looking for a few interested people to get started. If you can be free Thursdays between 6 and 9pm Central Standard Time, or Saturdays 10am to 1pm CST - speak up below.

▶ I want to start thinking about starting our next forum-wide event in September for our anniversary. It does not have to be the next plot-point in Inquisition, in fact, I'd like to do something Unbound specific. I'm taking suggestions, but if you don't have any that's okay too. Just know it's something that's coming up soon. September will be here before we know it.

▶ Thing Last: I want to start tossing in our Charade requests or new Want Ad posts to the end of our monthly updates. We'll start with Charades since we've got a few of them.

EVILS AT SEA
Me: KATARINA, CHERITH
You: Villainous Mermaid or Distressed Damsel
The plot: a shipwreck
Who starts? Me/CHERITH

BLOOD IS THICKER
Me: Malena de Bastion, merchant "princess" of Antiva by day, dastardly rogue by night, searching for answers regarding her mother's death, BIRTHE
You: Professional assassin who killed Malena's mother 10-20 years ago, potentially a Crow.
The plot: Malena sets a trap for her mother's assassin in order to find out more information. A deadly dance and potential team-up commences.
Who starts? Let's discuss.

DEEP DEEP DARK
Me: Kade, a marginally inept shapeshifter with somewhat questionable aspirations, CAT
You: A morally neutral, fancier of promised (but not delivered) paydays. Handy with a blade and passive with curiosities.
The plot: A trip from point A to point B, Kade is seeking someone willing to escort him through the slough of Templars strewn across Thedas. The destination; The Tevinter Imperium.
Who starts? let's discuss / me — CAT

OOPS, I DID IT AGAIN
Me: Sage / Erin Montgomery *coughs*, Snarky con artist and peddler of whatever the hell you want to hear/dreams you fancy. Also possibly a pissweak hedge mage in disguise. <-- Remove if a no-go
You: A frustratingly stubborn victim from a place so many weeks back she can’t even remember. Maybe you’re just acting on their behalf. Did she sell you some hokey love potion? With a face like that… even magic has its limitations
The plot: Capture, incarcerate, kill? A wild goose chase through the streets of (location) with her ultimate fate in your hands.
Who starts? LET'S DISCUSS

That's all for this month, friends. I asked for a lot of potential feedback items in this month's update, so that's one way to let me know you've read the update when you post below. But if you don't have any specific suggestions to add below then, leave a post and tell us how you spent July (or how you would've liked to spend July if yours wasn't particularly pleasant).

Thanks everyone! <3

Not many suggestions to offer, other than agreeing that 'Correspondences' could go under 'Elsewhere'. I spent July prepping for and going to MCM Comic Con in Manchester, which was an utter madhouse but a great weekend. Most of our group were RWBY cosplayers, and we had a massive meet on the Sunday for a photoshoot.

This sums up most of my July.

Edit bc Loot is an idiot: I am free most of the time at those times.

I will probably be able to be free on either of those times for the game, though it really depends on a TBD work experience course that they're being very annoying about not telling us when we'll be asked in.

In July, the highlight was Comic-Con! The lowlight was summer classes. But summer classes are now over, yay!

I haven't seen Ghostbusters yet but I'm stoked to get to it!

Personally I like Correspondences being separate from the rest of the roleplays, since they tend to be in first person rather than third. Not that I'd go on a rampage if you merged them, but I like the way it is now.

My July was largely focused on consistent heat sickness and occasional editing work. I'm hoping none of the editing I did in the past month was all wrong because it was not a great month. I am so desperate for fall weather, honestly.

I think that Correspondences update would work; I'm also open to suggestions for future writing challenges if anyone has thoughts on future topics.

As for those times...I am utterly useless without the routine of school. It's 3:50 in the morning right now and I'm just waiting for the Coffee Bean to open in a couple more hours. I can't 100% promise to be aware of the passage of time on a Thursday or Sunday but I will make an effort on either day.

Let's see. July. July. What did I do in-

DAMN SON. I LEVELLED UP TO 26! Obviously my mental age of 12 remains. I got some time off work, spent it poorly. Did some drawing, some drinking, some eating, some Overwatch and lots of complaining about how hot it's been...oh and UH YEAH, I saw ghostbusters :3

As ever, I have nothing useful to add. I would post a Ghostbusters gif but I don't want to ruin anything for people who haven't seen it.

July was a bad month for me. Between dealing with family drama and my own personal mental health. I'm kind of in a "blech people" mood which is why I've been MIA as of late. Hoping to get back into normal self soon. Plus getting ready for Disney. (I am so excited you have no idea. -squeals-)

Honestly. I don't think the Correspondence area gets used often, and would be okay to be gotten rid of. We can always come up with a tag to put in the title for letters or whatever if need be.

As for Table top games. I can be around on Thursday, but I'll be honest I don't get up before noon on Saturdays if I can help it so I will probably not be able to make that. lol

I think putting Correspondence with the elsewhere stuff is a great idea. Thanks for the reminder about clean up! I am working to reply to all my threads right now and reassessing if I've forgotten to reply to any of them that have been sitting. I'll also be checking to see if any of them have been marked inactive. Other than that I think everyone is doing great with no real suggestions over here. Thanks for your hard work.

I didn't see Ghostbusters! I have to go see Ghostbusters! I did go to Vegas, though, and got propositioned by six Elvises. At the same time. It was an alarming and amusing experience. I also did tons of Trek things and own a lot of Trek-themed make-up now. It's really nice make-up. I also sang karaoke. That was not Trek-themed, but I did watch two girls Cosplaying Lursa and B'etor do a duet of "You Light Up My Life" in Klingon! That was pretty great.

BUT YEAH SO SUGGESTIONS. Uhhh... Um... Moving correspondences to elsewhere might be good! I haven't really used that forum yet (though I've wanted to), so I certainly won't argue, and even if it's just moving it into correspondences as a subforum, it'll clean up the index page and stuff, which is always nice! I... think... I had an idea a while back, but I left my brain with the Elvises, so I'm going to have to get that back and then get back to you. I think everything here is pretty spectacular though :D

update: HOT DANG I've been gone so long I posted this as code instead of with a post tag

I don't have any suggestions in particular either, but I do agree that moving the Correspondences forum would work. We really don't seem to use it all that much. :) I wish I could join your table top games but that would be difficult for me because timezoooones. -shakes fist at-

July wasn't that great and August isn't proving to be much better (hence my lack of activity). But regardless, I hope you all are well! Also, excited for the next event! :D

ALSO, HAVE TWO CUDDLY PANDAS JUST BECAUSE (AND I MISS YOU GUYS)

I mainly spent July either working or playing touch rugby or being in Ireland, so it was a pretty busy month and apparently August has decided to be busier.

July was a complete blur to me. I do distinctly remember looking outside my window at some kids messing with sprinklers in the street on the 4th and this neighborhood 'security' guy shoo them away. Bummer central.
