Guest Welcome guest!

Here on Unbound, our plot follows four different timelines, set throughout the canonical history of the Dragon Age. The events following Trespasser, the time of the Inquisition, the rise of the Champion of Kirkwall and the quest of the Warden against the Fifth Blight.

And So is the Golden City blackened
With each step you take in my Hall.
Marvel at perfection, for it is fleeting.
You have brought Sin to Heaven
And doom upon all the world.

In other altercations between them, Nolani absorbed Diedrich’s punches, converting their energy to fuel her reaver rage - which was when everything clicked into place.

This was one of the few times his strike actually hurt. Her body skipped right over reaver instincts and into dragon, and so her retaliation was accompanied with a full-bodied roar. Yet even as a seasoned Warden, who’d roared back in the face of ogres, Nolani knew, in the way a warrior could, she’d made a mistake goading Diedrich. He caught her hand, compressing it frightfully, and she kicked, yanked, shoved, and cursed as he bullied her back, remaining grounded and using his body size.

She writhed in an uncoordinated fury, elven curses biting at him, her teeth snapping, projecting bloody spittle. Her dragon’s blood burned, but Nolani had wanted just a simple fight - not to murder Diedrich. She howled at him in elven between his words, a slew of wrongful declarations about she didn't give a damn what he said, that she’d freely say anything she pleased, but slowed as he said “again”.

Again. The hell did he mean again? This fucking Cami woman?

And what the fuck did he mean by love? Nolani could feel her anger grasping at every straw to stay energized. She sure as hell didn't fucking love him. Not right now. Not in the moment. Not when she couldn't tell if she wanted to break his nose or his hand.

Nolani sneered at him, not quite sure why she was when she knew the fight was over. He was done. He wanted this finished, and his point made. She wasn't surprised when he kissed her. Nolani struck his shoulder with the side of her fist, utterly at an internal impasse between wanting the kiss and wanting to clock his stupid head away from her.

Her hand caught his wrist after the kiss and she held it away, though her grip lessened by the second. She made no real move to disengage from him. Fuck, her lip hurt and the inside of her mouth was filling with blood and saliva. Nolani scoffed at his comment about them and rolled her chin away to spit, only to grimace as she realized her teeth had cut into her lip on the inside. She deserved that. For the way she mouthed off.

Resting her head on the tree, Nolani stared up at Diedrich. Still holding onto his wrist, his pulse thudded beneath her fingertips and her heart shifted to sympathetically adapt to his pace. Look at him, the whispers began. He was tired. With gradual release, the tension left her expression. As she continued looking at him, her breath falling unconsciously synchronous with his just before Nolani sighed deeply through her nose. Finally, she shook her head.

“I don't think so,” she admitted. Her fingers slid off his wrist. Nolani collected his wet shirt, from when she’d thrown water on him, in tight handfuls before pressing her forehead into his chest. His heart beat just within and she listened for a moment, and then another, before speaking.

“It’s simple,” she said, from against his chest, over his heart. “Vhenan. Heart. Ma vhenan. I don't want it to stop beating.”
