UNBOUND

Here on Unbound, our plot follows four different timelines, set throughout the canonical history of the Dragon Age. The events following Trespasser, the time of the Inquisition, the rise of the Champion of Kirkwall and the quest of the Warden against the Fifth Blight.

And So is the Golden City blackened
With each step you take in my Hall.
Marvel at perfection, for it is fleeting.
You have brought Sin to Heaven
And doom upon all the world.

Mage

9:42 Kingsway

Dorian moved through Skyhold with a sly determination and a confident smirk on his face. Last night was most eventful, and while it was relatively placid concerning his own involvement, or lack thereof, in events, he found it exceptionally entertaining, nonetheless. Sharing a drink, or several, with himself and his thoughts at the Herald's Rest was a common pass time of his. Sometimes, whether he considered it lucky or misfortune, he and his thoughts had company. Not this previous night, however. He had received news about Felix, and his passing, while expected, still hit him hard.

He was drinking solemnly in his regular dark corner, giving off the airs of someone who did not want to be disturbed unless it was for more wine. Happily malcontent he was in his own company as each glass of wine brought him closer to some kind of respite, when he heard the distinctly familiar husk of a voice that could only have been the Inquisitor's. Half intrigued, he turned to investigate.
It was indeed the Inquisitor, but she was not alone. Accompanying her was a man of no significance to Dorian. He had never seen him before. He would surely have remembered a man such as he, with a swatch of red paint the color of blood spread across his face that served to only accentuate the man's rugged good looks. No, Dorian had never seen him before. He was certain.

The two seemed content in each other's company each time Dorian bothered to glance over from the shadows he sat in. Their interaction was not as captivating as staring endlessly into the rough timbre of the table he sat at as he drank, and when he did look over it was with little focus. The night continued like this, until Dorian glanced over to see the two of them leave, and whether it was the drink or not, he could have sworn they seemed rather smitten. The air surrounding them was one Dorian knew well, and he had smirked at Inquisitor Trevelyan's fortune as he finished off the last of his wine and thought about staggering up to his room for an attempt at restless sleep.

The next day, he washed and dressed, and his first order of business after recalling what he was more than certain wasn't a drunken hallucination, was to find the Inquisitor and find out just what happened from the horse's mouth. This was going to be most entertaining.

The Herald was difficult to find at the best of times. With so many demands on her time and attention, finding her in her usual haunts was never a sure bet, but one Dorian deemed worthy. After checking the War Room, the tavern and the soldier's sparring ring, he finally found her down in the forge. The door swung open before him, and he swaggered down the stairs before leaning against the rail post at the bottom, a mischievous grin adorning his face. "Inquisitor Trevelyn. Are you well? It's an awfully beautiful day today, isn't it? Have you noticed?" It was raining outside.

Rogue
She'd been fighting the urge to wander Skyhold looking for him. Fighting and winning because Honor was nothing if not determined to prove even herself wrong. Crushes came and went and she was good at watching them go, happy usually to do so. She didn't know what would happen exactly when she set out later in the day with the Champion and her entourage but she knew what she needed to do was have her shit under control.

The forge was about as far away as she could get from wherever he'd be, and served what was likely the more important purpose of making sure her daggers were sharp, ready for battle. Her gauntlets had an annoying bit of blood that hadn't been buffed out after her last time outside the walls. So she might as well make herself busy with supervising. In the meantime she waited for Dagna to return with whatever gadget or another she'd been working on. Likely the adorable dwarven woman had gotten distracted by some tome on her way, leaving Honor hovering about in the forge at odd ends.

When the door opened, Honor turned, expecting the arcanist's return. Instead she watched Dorian descend the stairs, a self-satisfied cat, stalking his prey. Her.

She turned back around, watching sparks spin up from her daggers as they were sharpened. "I'm well, Dorian. As you can plainly see." She gestured out from the position she'd taken up against one of Dagna's tables. "Difficult to see, from down here," she replied smugly.

She'd known the nobleman long enough to know that he knew something. It wasn't difficult to assume what he knew, given how last night had gone. She and Garrett had been at the Herald's Rest after all. Alone at a table, before she'd taken the Champion out for a walk. Given that he'd not been in Skyhold long, people were bound to take notice. Everyone noticed new faces. And within the walls of Skyhold gossip flew on hummingbird wings, making rounds in record time.

It wasn't the first time Dorian or she had gone to the other to indulge in a bit of gossip themselves. She liked the mage for that reason. He'd grown up under the weight of noble influence, he knew what trappings the finery and expectations could be. And he still knew the value of laughter, of a good looking backside, and a friend to share secrets with.

She turned back and smiled at Dorian, eyes wide with feigned innocence. "I've been here most of the morning." It was offered with the same stable tone, but her dark eyes lit with mirth. "Were you looking for me? What can I do for you?"
